Balance Text & Visuals

Balance text & visuals

Many toolmakers assume that visual tools are always easier. But when you are dealing with complex stuff, especially when you’ve got a multistep process – e.g., doing several different steps of cleaning up code and then graphing it in a couple of different ways – words can be a better way to go.  When people describe what they want, they often use words—it’s both expressive and concise–so why not let them write “code”/recipes the same way?

We want to create tools that let users move fluidly between something that’s visual/interactive and coding, taking advantage of what text does well, while also taking advantage of what interactive graphical user interfaces do well.
